Links to Leadership, an organization of female community leaders based in the Capital Region of New York State, announces the 3rd Annual Merrill Links to Leadership Charity Golf Tournament. The event will be held on Monday, September 11, 2023, at the Albany Country Club in Voorheesville, NY.
Merrill Links to Leadership Charity Golf Tournament is a unique event that aims to attract both seasoned and novice golfers. Participants can choose to play a round of golf or attend a four-hour “Intro to Golf” clinic hosted by Honorary Chair and LPGA Hall of Fame instructor Kay McMahon, creator of Golf 8.5 and eduKaytion Golf. Kay will host the clinic along with Maria Glavin, the Northeastern NY PGA Junior Tour Player of the Year 2019 - 2022 Women’s Club Champion at Van Schaick Island Country Club, who will be our Junior Honorary Chair.
The 2023 tournament offers mentor and sponsorship opportunities to provide free golf or clinic admission sponsored by a corporate or individual golfer. In addition, the program offers exposure to the sport for individuals who may not have been given access to golf and/or are unable to participate due to the start-up costs or other factors. When started early, golf is a lifetime sport that can open doors and present opportunities professionally and personally. The Links to Leadership organization is committed to encouraging and supporting professional and personal growth for women.
This year the tournament’s proceeds will benefit two amazing organizations whose missions are committed to the advancement of local women and girls. The Capital District Women’s & Employment Resource Center (WERC) (cdwerc.org) works to advance women's success in the workplace by building their economic and personal independence. Girls Inc. of the Greater Capital Region (girlsinccapitalregion.org) works to inspire all girls to be strong, smart, and bold, provide a safe space for girls from all walks of life, and focus on the development of the whole girl. Last year, with our supporters’ outstanding generosity, we raised over $38,000. With your help this year, we know we can exceed that sum.
