In honor of International Credit Union Day (ICU), on Wednesday, October 16th at the first annual ICU Awards, Sunmark Credit Union and the Sunmark Charitable Community Foundation acknowledged individuals and organizations who have made their mark in the Capital Region by contributing their time, talent or treasure to better their community, thus living out the credit union philosophy.
The Capital District Women’s Employment & Resource Center (WERC) was one of three organizations awarded the ICU People Helping People Award. WERC and the other awardees were recognized as organizations whose missions align with Sunmark’s philosophy of people helping people.
Other recipients this award included: Boys and Girls Club of the Capital Area and The American Red Cross. Renee Fahey, founder of Street Soldiers, received the Susan V. Siegel Community Service Leader Award as an individual who has made a meaningful contribution to their community outside of their role set by their employer.
